    Abe again

This is Andy, the other Percheron, very attractive, eh?

    yes

Post by white_thundacat on Mon Nov 10, 2008 1:03 pm

yes, with a gun Crying or Very sad it is really sad, hes a... i think 12 year old gelding, who actually was never broken, we tried breaking him this summer, but whenever we put a saddle on him, he basically dropped to the ground, frightened.... one time, we got him used to it, and he stood there, but when we tightened the girth, he dropped, and got back up and bashed his head on the wall.... I remember going to his stall, hes sticking his head out, with blood dripping on the ground from his eye and slightly higher than his eye... and also his lip... I am not making this up... for those of you who think I am... I was the one who put medicine on the cuts, I didn't even even bother with putting on any gloves.... i didn't care... I felt sorry for the guy, he was so beautiful...

Another time, we actually got to tighten the girth, but it took about... an hour of dropping to the ground, thrashing his head... we went on a long trail ride, and his rider got bucked off 3 times because of little sounds....

I am sorry to see this guy go, the owner, Jerome, said that no one would want a horse that can't even be ridden properly... so.... he is prooly gonna be shot this summer, I hope he isn't, so we can have another go at it... but, it would be so hard...

This horse... was a witch!!! she attacked anyone who groomed her... and she tried bucking me off a couple of times when I was riding her...
    She is beautiful, but mean....

This is prolly the most beautiful horse I will find.. she is sweet, but can be mean at times, when you have a roping saddle on her, her performance cannot be compared... She likes speed and roping and barel racing, just the perfect hrose for me.... we almost bought her this summer... but did not have the money.. she is another one that is being shot.. SUCH A LOSS!!! Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad I am so sad to see her go!!! Just the lightest touch on her flanks, she bolted, just what I wanted her to do.. perfect roping horse..

I am going to try very hard to stay off of my soap box here. About the horses being shot....Honestly, there are other options. And as far as the horses that are mean. They have to learn how to interact with humans. And who is it that teaches them this skill?? Humans. So, if a horse is mean, somewhere, at some time in its life, there was a human that made it that way. Most of these horses can be fixed, to some extent. Almost everyone in this forum knows of Garrido now (the horse in my avitar picture). That stallions story is heartbreaking. He was horribly abused by his previous owner and was insane when my friend bought him. It took 4 grown men to hold on to him for someone to mount him. He would attack people over the front of his stall and scalped some guy who was standing too close. (no joke, this horse was a walking nightmare). Now, he has been shown in leadline with a 5 year old on him. He is still not a "safe" horse to be around if he is not being handled by someone he knows. But the change in him has been dramatic and amazing. And all it took was the most magical thing a person can have when working with horses. Patience. Yup, thats what it boils down to. Some skill, some timing, a little insight, a few instincts, feeling. But above all of that, patience. So to me, the fact that horses are being shot over the humans in their world not having the patience to help them. I think that is the saddest thing I have heard in a long time.....

I didn't do very well staying off my soap box did I?? Neutral

    I agree

Post by white_thundacat on Wed Nov 12, 2008 2:53 pm

I agree, it is the saddest thing.. but we did not get enough hay in for the winter... the barn staff stayed out late haying, with the help of most of the rest of the staff at Living Waters, we stayed out past supper trying to get as much hay as possible... but we could not get enough in, we needed about 10,000 bales of hay for the horses and cows for the winter, and we only got in 6,000.... we tried selling them, and even giving them away, but no one wants a horse like that, well, around the place they were being sold.... no one wanted even a 3 year old mare who was broken very easily.... or was she 2 years old? idk... but the owner has this rule... 3 strikes, and your out... it they buck him off or attack him more than 3 times, they are gone... so... he only wants the best horses for campers to ride.. this summer, we already got a few campers thrown, and he wants the safety of the campers.

That is it I am blowing up now    that guy could train thoses horses the fact is he dont want to put the effort into it or he could use this lovely invention called the INTERNET and post a for sale or free to good home ad!! Those campers should not be on a unsound horse to begin with unless they know that they run a risk of being thrown off and that guy shouldnt let them on the horse if they dont know that! SO it is NOT the horses fault. Lets say this for example Africa has a food shortage are they going to go to the extreme option of shooting/killing their people NO they just EAT LESS they wont starve if they eat less. Some people I say are so ignorant *I am not going to say the words I am thinking of LOL* Its a ___ shame!!!!!!!!  What this world has come to.............

also I have to agree with Sky...it's really hard to NOT go off on a tirade...there are people like me for instance, I cannot ride now because of a back and knee injury but I would LOVE to own a horse as a companion and cherish it for the rest of it's days.
Where does this person live? I would like to contact him.
Being actually SHOT dead...stuns me...literally...I thought they stopped doing that back in like the 1800's...to have to resort to something that drastic says a LOT about the owner and it's not good stuff anyone is thinking. It's extremely irresponsible of him, in fact it is criminal of him to own more than he can properly care for. Don't stick up for this person, they ought to be ashamed of themselves!

I totally agree with Skysmoke, shooting the horse isn't fair. It has probably been abused by some cruel and horrid people with no hearts.

You go Robbin, I hope you go and buy him, give him a chance. He's such a beautiful horse, good luck! I love you
